Standard Hardware Warranty

Vesper Marine takes product quality and performance seriously and covers all products with a standard world-wide hardware warranty. Rest assured that wherever you live, you are covered by the Vesper Marine Standard Hardware warranty which provides for repair or replacement, at our option, of any product purchased from us within the warranty terms. Please refer to the warranty documentation you received with your product and below for further details.

Limitations and Exclusions

The warranty does not cover these situations:

  • Products where the enclosure has been opened or the product has been altered or repaired by an unauthorized party.
  • Products that have their serial or other labels removed.
  • Damage due to abuse, misuse, lightning strikes, improper installation or wiring, or failure to follow installation instructions including antenna separation requirements.
  • Damage caused by the use of non-Vesper Marine accessories such as GPS antennas or VHF antenna splitters.
  • Damage during shipping.

Warranty Return Process

All warranty return requests must be made by contacting Vesper Marine technical support at [email protected]. Our support engineers will work with you to determine if the product requires repair. If a repair is required, please provide proof of purchase and our support engineer will issue you a Return Material Authorization number (RMA) and instructions. A unique RMA is required for each product. Vesper Marine will not accept any product returns without an RMA.

  • You are responsible for returning the product to the Vesper Marine service center. See the Shipping section below for your options.
  • Only the product which is deemed to be defective should be returned. All accessories (eg. manuals, cables, antennas) are to be kept and should not be returned.
  • If the product hasn't been received by Vesper Marine within two months after issuing an RMA then the request will be closed automatically. If you require additional time, simply contact us at [email protected].

Upon receipt of the product, Vesper Marine will inspect it and assess the warranty status based upon the warranty conditions and your proof of purchase. If the problem is not covered under the warranty (see Limitations and Exclusions above) we will contact you to discuss your options for Out of Warranty repair.

  • Each returned product will be subjected to a full factory production test to detect the reported failure. If we are unable to determine any failure during the testing, then you will be contacted to obtain further information and discuss the situation. If after further discussion with you, we are not able to detect a failure then the product will be returned to you at your expense.
  • Our targeted repair time is five working days after receipt of the returned product. Under some circumstances the repair may take longer such as failure to reproduce the problem, unavailability of components, public holidays, etc. In these situations, we will keep you informed about the repair status if any delay is encountered.
  • As part of our warranty service we may decide, at our sole discretion, to replace the product with a new or factory reconditioned one. In the case of a replacement, the product may have a different serial number from the original product.

Shipping your Product to Vesper Marine

All products returned for warranty service must be shipped prepaid. When shipping your product to Vesper Marine, you will need to:

  • Ensure the product is packed adequately to avoid damage in shipping.
  • Include the RMA number and proof of purchase which includes the authorized Vesper Marine dealer name, date of purchase and serial number.
  • As a convenience Vesper Marine can arrange for your shipping. This service is not available from all locations and you will be given the option when customer support issues you the RMA number. There is a simple fixed cost associated with this service which includes all documentation, pick-up at your location, export fees if any, shipping and insurance.   • If Vesper Marine's Product Return Service is not available in your area, you may ship via courier or postal service to Vesper Marine. You must arrange and prepay shipment, insurance and any export fees if applicable. You will be provided with the delivery address when customer support issues the RMA number.

Return Shipment from Vesper Marine

Accepted warranty claims will be shipped back to you at no cost. Return shipping includes freight, insurance and any applicable export fees (Incoterms CIP). Shipping excludes VAT/GST or other taxes or duties, if any, imposed by local authorities. We return all shipments with a copy of the incoming shipment documentation to assist you with clearance, if any, and the value of all returned shipments is the repair cost only.

Special Warranty Services

Out of Box Failures

All Vesper Marine products are fully tested in our factory both before and after final assembly. This includes all functions of the product. As a result, out-of-box failures are quite rare. However, if your product fails within 30 days of initial purchase Vesper Marine will replace it.

If you purchased from an authorized Vesper Marine dealer, please contact the dealer directly to arrange a replacement. The original product must be returned to the dealer.

If you purchased your product directly from Vesper Marine's website an Advance Warranty Replacement will be promptly shipped to you at no charge. The details of our Advance Warranty Replacement service are below. To arrange for a replacement, contact Vesper Marine technical support at [email protected].

Advance Warranty Replacement

During the first year of the warranty period an Advance Warranty Replacement unit may be available either directly from Vesper Marine or through the authorized Vesper Marine dealer where the product was purchased.

  • Advance Warranty Replacements, subject to availability, must be authorized by contacting technical support at [email protected]. If an Advance Warranty Replacement is not authorized then the standard warranty process applies.
  • Advance Warranty Replacements will only be authorized for products within the first year of the warranty period. Beyond one year the standard warranty process applies.
  • An Advance Warranty Replacement may consist of either a new unit or a factory reconditioned unit subject to availability and at the discretion of Vesper Marine.
  • A credit card deposit for the retail value of the product is required. This deposit will be promptly refunded when the original unit has been received by Vesper Marine and the warranty claim accepted. If the problem is not covered by the warranty (see Limitations and Exclusions above) then the cost of repair and shipping of the Advance Warranty Replacement will be deducted from the deposit refund.
  • Deposits exclude VAT/GST or other local taxes except in New Zealand where GST is included. Vesper Marine shipping of the Advance Warranty Replacement includes export fees, freight, and insurance (Incoterms CIP). Any import duties or taxes, if applicable, are not included.
  • Please note that we may be unable to ship to certain locations. Our customer support team will discuss any shipping restrictions with you.

Fixed Price Out of Warranty Repairs

Policies and procedures

For any products which are beyond the warranty period there is a fixed price for all repairs. However, we are not able to repair physical damage or damage caused by external events such as improper wiring, use of non-approved splitters, lightning strikes, etc. Unfortunately, we are also no longer able to repair WatchMate 650's.

  • Your payment currency depends on your return delivery address. We are not able to alter or mix currencies. We accept Mastercard and Visa payments only via our website.
  • You must ship the product prepaid to us and we will return it after payment for the repair and return shipping. Where available you may use our Product Return Service.
  • Return shipping is a fixed price based on the delivery location. Return shipping excludes VAT/GST or other taxes or duties, if any, imposed by local authorities. We return all shipments with a copy of the incoming shipment documentation to assist you with clearance, if any, and the value of all returned shipments is the fixed price repair cost.
  • Please note that we may be unable to ship to certain locations. Our customer support team will discuss any shipping restrictions with you.
  • For any repairs, you must obtain a return authorization (RMA) by contacting us at [email protected] prior to shipping to us. We will not accept packages without an RMA.

North America and Rest of World

Your Vesper Marine product is warranted, when properly installed and used, to be free from defects in materials or workmanship during the warranty period indicated in the warranty documentation that accompanies the product, from the date the product was purchased by the first retail customer. This warranty applies to the original retail purchaser only and is not transferable. This warranty only applies to products purchased from Vesper Marine or from an authorized Vesper Marine reseller. Within this period, Vesper Marine will, at its sole option, repair or replace any components which fail in normal use. Repairs or replacement will be made at no charge for parts or labor, provided that the customer shall be responsible for any transportation costs. This warranty does not cover failures due to abuse, misuse, accident, improper installation, unauthorized alterations or repairs, shipping damage, wear and tear, lightning, or corrosion.

This warranty will not apply if the product's external housing has been opened, the serial number or other labels have been removed or altered, or the specified input voltage has been exceeded. This warranty will not apply if the product has been operated with an incompatible GPS antenna, without a suitable VHF antenna, or with an incompatible antenna splitter, where applicable to the product.

Vesper Marine retains the exclusive right to replace the unit with a factory reconditioned unit or a new unit at its sole discretion. Where a replacement is provided the original product becomes the property of Vesper Marine and the warranty will remain from the original purchase date.

THE WARRANTIES AND REMEDIES CONTAINED HEREIN ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY LIABILITY ARISING UNDER ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, WHICH MAY VARY FROM STATE TO STATE.

IN NO EVENT SHALL VESPER MARINE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, WHETHER RESULTING FROM THE USE, MISUSE OR INABILITY TO USE THE PRODUCT OR FROM DEFECTS IN THE PRODUCT. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

Vesper Marine retains the exclusive right to repair or replace the product or offer a full refund of the purchase price at its sole discretion. SUCH REMEDY SHALL BE YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY.

European Union

Your Vesper Marine product is warranted, when properly installed and used, to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for two years from the date the product was purchased by the first retail customer. This warranty applies to the original retail purchaser only and is not transferable. This warranty only applies to products purchased from Vesper Marine or from an authorized Vesper Marine reseller. Within this period, Vesper Marine will, at its discretion, repair or replace any components which fail in normal use. Repairs or replacement will be made at no charge for parts or labour, provided that the customer shall be responsible for any transportation costs. This warranty does not cover failures due to abuse, misuse, accident, improper installation, unauthorized alterations or repairs, shipping damage, wear and tear, lightning, or corrosion.

This warranty will not apply if the product's external housing has been opened, the serial number or other labels have been removed or altered, or the specified input voltage has been exceeded. This warranty will not apply if the product has been operated with an incompatible GPS antenna, without a suitable VHF antenna, or with an incompatible antenna splitter, where applicable to the product.

This warranty is in addition to all other rights available to the consumer under any applicable statute and your statutory rights are not affected by this warranty.

This warranty applies only to products supplied new to you by a stockist or Vesper Marine and you have not bought the product for resale.

In no event shall Vesper Marine be liable for any incidental, special, indirect, or consequential damages, whether resulting from the use, misuse or inability to use the product or from defects in the product.
